Postdoctoral Research Positions at the USTC
The Complex Quantum Materials Laboratory, led by Professor Donglai Feng at the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC), invites applications for multiple postdoctoral research positions. The successful candidates will contribute to basic research on low-dimensional materials with strengthened quantum effects including Unconventional Superconductors, Quantum Geometrical Materials and Novel Magnetic Materials, research areas critical for advancing the fundamental understanding and technological application of advanced materials.
Position Details:
Position A:
Atomic Layer-by-Layer Growth of Thin films and Heterostructures, with a Focus on Oxides, by Molecular Beam Epitaxy (MBE)
Start date: ASAP
Position B:
Resolving Dispersive Electronic Structures of Bulk and Thin-film Materials via Lab- and Synchrotron-based Angle-Resolved Photoemission Spectroscopy (ARPES)
Position C:
Real-space Mapping of Quantum Electronic States Using Low-temperature Scanning Tunneling Microscopy (STM)
Start date: Flexible
Contract Term: 2-3 years, renewable based on performance and funding availability.
Salary: Competitive annual salary, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Synthesis of high-quality oxide thin films using state-of-the-art MBE technique and developing new techniques and growth methods to tackle current challenges in oxide film synthesis. (Position A)
2. Performing ARPES and STM experiments on bulk and thin-film samples and analyzing data with critical thinking. (Position B and C)
3. Co-supervising undergraduate and graduate students.
4. Writing manuscripts for publishing results in top-tier scientific journals.
5. Active participation in collaborative research and dissemination of results through scientific publications and presentations.
Requirements:
1. PhD degree in Physics, Materials Science, or a closely related field.
2. Strong publication record demonstrating expertise in relevant areas.
3. Excellent writing, oral communication and collaboration skills.
